PUPILS from Mayfield School in Whitehaven will enjoy the benefits of a live music performance thanks to a donation from rock star Francis Dunnery.

The Egremont-born musician handed over £500 to the Whitehaven school, raised through the charity he set up in memory of his parents, the Charlie and Kathleen Dunnery Children’s Fund.

The fund donates money to causes that will help in the health and education of local children and has paid for a harpist from the organisation Manchester-based Music in Hospitals to visit Mayfield in January.

The harpist will perform for the children and then give them the chance to play the instrument themselves.

CKDCF raises its money by holding a concert, walk, golf day and auction every year. The charity will hand out £500 every few months. To nominate a cause for a future donation visit www.ckdcf.org.
