A SOAP star has joined a Copeland charity to help spread a little festive cheer.
Chelsea Halfpenny, who plays Amy in Emmerdale, joined volunteers of the Charlie and Kathleen Dunnery Children’s Fund to hand out selection boxes to youngsters in Newcastle.

A host of celebrity items are up for grabs at the annual Francis Dunnery auction.
The Egremont-born rock star will be at the event at The Ship Launch at 7pm tomorrow that will feature a pop quiz, raffle and celebrity auction.
All proceeds from the event, along with a concert, golf day, table tennis competition and sponsored walk later in the year, go to the Charlie and Kathleen Dunnery Children’s Fund. |

A SIGNED Manchester United football and a signed Noel Gallagher set-list are among the items up for grabs at a charity celebrity auction to be held tomorrow (Friday) night.
The event, to be held at The Ship Launch, Egremont, will raise money for the Charlie and Kathleen Dunnery Children’s Fund – a charity set up by local rock star Francis Dunnery in memory of his parents.
Francis won’t be at the event due to a prior engagement, but there will be music on offer from John and Wayne and MT Arms.

A EGREMONT teenager who is undergoing treatment after she was diagnosed with three brain tumours has received a charitable donation.
Danica Maxwell, 14, is soon to have chemotherapy following the discovery of the tumours.
Accompanied by her family, Danica received £300 from the Charlie and Kathleen Dunnery Children’s Fund – a charity set up by Egremont-born rock star Francis Dunnery in memory of his parents. |

It is not easy to make Ennerdale feel crowded, but fans of Francis Dunnery almost managed it when they flocked over the West Cumbria from USA, Canada, Scandanavia, Germany, Italy and many partos the Britain to hear their hero sing with his band, Brand New It Bites at Whitehaven Civic Hall on 24th October and then take possession of Cumbria's wildest and most remote lake the next morning.
Together with Francis, his partner, Erica, his sister Fay, and niece, Charlie, they walked round the Lake, often along paths that were ankle deep in water after recent rains, marvelling at the stunning scenery which too mnay of us in Copeland take for granted.

PATIENTS at a Cumbrian hospice are to be able to enjoy the latest computer games thanks to a donation from a Cumbrian charity.
The Charlie and Kathleen Dunnery Children's Fund, which was founded in 2002 by Egremont musician Francis Dunnery, this week presented a cheque for £500 to Eden Valley Hospice in Carlisle.

And the busy weekend culminated on Sunday with a sponsored walk around Ennerdale Lake, which saw 130 people of all ages – led by Francis himself – take part in the seven-mile hike. |

THE Home and Hospital Tuition Service, which provides education for children who are too ill to attend school, has been presented with a cheque for £1,000 thanks to the Charlie and Kathleen Dunnery Children’s Fund.
The money will be used to purchase new computer software which can aid stress reduction in children. |

THE Baz Dunnery Memorial gig was a huge success and raised £1,550.
All of the money will be donated to the Charlie and Kathleen Dunnery Children’s Fund (www.ckdcf.org). Having moved to a bigger venue due to demand, the 250 tickets for Egremont Market Hall sold out quickly.
The evening was opened by Tabula Raza who were joined by Slade’s lead singer Mal McNulty, who kicked off the evening with a round of songs by Slade and AC/DC and warmed the audience up well before South Quay took to the stage. |

PUPILS at Mayfield School have enjoyed a live music performance from a professional harpist and even had the opportunity to try out a tune for themselves.
Harpist Margaret Knight visited the Whitehaven school on Friday last week to perform for the pupils and staff, and to help them enjoy the benefits that live music can bring.
The visit was made possible thanks to a charitable donation from musician Francis Dunnery.

| Amazing that anyone turned up at all! A month's rain had fallen on the previous day and the new channels were full of the story of the miraculous escape of mountain marathon walkers who were stranded in atrocious conditions.
Drivers drove through partly flooded roads to get to Bowness Knott, and even at the start of the walk it was doubtful whether they could possibly get round the lake.
"This way it's up to your crotch and that way it's up to your neck," warned Francis, but were we daunted? Just before the start a fierce squally shower warned that the heavy rain had not given up on us yet. |

People from all over the world are expected at Francis Dunnery's big annual fundraising event.
The Egremont eent will involve many stars from the rock world – Motorhead guitarist Phil Campbell, Steve Nardelli, of the Syn, and Chris Difford of Squeeze.
Also taking part is Hootie and the Blowfish drummer James Sonefeld and TV star Paul Riley, who starred in Still Game.
Each October the Egremont-born rock star returns to hold a number of events to raise money for the Charlie and Kathleen Dunnery Children’s Fund, which gives money for local good causes. It takes place from Friday, October 24 to Sunday, October 26.... |
